"The Dangerous Consequences of Laziness" - Jonny Ardavanis

Laziness is more than just a lack of productivity—it’s a spiritual danger that distorts the image of the God who created us to work, serve, and worship through our lives.

In this message, we turn to the book of Proverbs to examine the serious consequences of slothfulness and what Scripture says about living a life of diligence and purpose.

This sermon unpacks five marks of a lazy person:

1. The lazy person makes excuses

2. The lazy person loves ease

3. The lazy person doesn’t finish what they started

4. The lazy person is self-deceived

5. The lazy person needs to be prodded

Through wisdom from Proverbs and a biblical theology of work, we’re reminded that our calling is not to comfort and complacency but to usefulness for God’s glory and the good of our neighbor.

If you’ve been coasting spiritually, mentally, or physically—this is your call to wake up. Laziness isn’t neutral. But by God’s grace, we can live lives marked by intentionality, discipline, and devotion.
