Parenting For Life - Class 3
In this session, we’ll explore what it means to be a faithful, intentional teacher in the home—recognizing that parenting is the primary classroom for shaping hearts, character, and wisdom.
We’ll look at the prerequisites of the family classroom, understanding a child’s need for growth, teaching in incremental steps, and cultivating self-control in body, mouth, and mind. From there, we’ll discuss how parents teach, not only through formal lessons but through everyday life—by example, conversation, and consistent discipleship moments.
Together we’ll examine what parents are called to teach:
A fear of the Lord that flows from knowing, worshiping, and pleasing God.
Submission and obedience to authority, modeled first in the home.
How to deal biblically with sin—through repentance, confession, reconciliation, and forgiveness.
Biblical communication that reflects truth, grace, and self-control in our speech.
Loving and serving others after the example of Christ, cultivating generosity and compassion.
Handling desires, expectations, and trials with trust in God’s sovereignty.
Stewarding time, abilities, and possessions wisely.
Developing a biblical work ethic that honors the Lord in all things.
Modeling marriage and family life as a living testimony of Christ’s love and design.
This class is designed to equip parents to shepherd their children’s hearts through truth, example, and grace—teaching not just what to do, but who to become in Christ.
