Ken Helton

Elder

Born in Foley, Alabama, Ken played football at Tulane University before transferring to The University of Alabama, where he met his wife, Kay. After graduation they were married, and Ken served in the Army as Company Commander of HQ Company, 2nd Battalion, 13th Armor, 1st Armored Division, Ft. Hood, Texas.

Following his military service, Ken returned to The University of Alabama to earn a Master’s Degree in Economics. During a job interview, he placed his faith in Jesus Christ as his Savior, and a few months later had the privilege of introducing Kay to Jesus as well.

Ken then spent 45 years in commercial real estate finance and development in Dallas, while also serving as an elder at the original Fellowship Bible Church Dallas. After moving to a nearby lake in semi-retirement, he attended Missionary Baptist Seminary and was ordained as Associate Pastor at New Hope Baptist Church in Streetman, TX.

In 2018, Ken and Kay moved to Franklin, where Ken began a Bible study in his home, joined SBC, and became an elder. He continues to serve faithfully by teaching men’s Bible studies, hosting accountability groups, leading community groups, and encouraging members of the Body of Christ through counseling.

Ken and Kay are blessed with three children and 10 grandchildren.
