Location: Franklin, TN.

Position Summary

The Family Pastor at Stonebridge Bible Church will champion a Christ-centered, church-supported, home-driven approach to spiritual formation. This role focuses on equipping parents, strengthening marriages, and aligning all ministries that impact the family. The Family Pastor will provide leadership and oversight for Family Discipleship, Parent Training, and Marriage Enrichment, ensuring that every family has a clear path toward spiritual growth and relational health. In addition, the Family Pastor will contribute to the broader teaching and pastoral leadership of the church.

Key Roles

Although specific in function, the chief end of this position is to be a faithful pastor to the people of Stonebridge—leading, loving, teaching, and caring for adults in every season of life. The pastor must bring the presence of Christ into every relationship and responsibility and help the people of God mature into the image of Christ through Word, Spirit, and community.

Specifically, the Family Pastor will be responsible for:

#1: Lead, Shepherd, & Align

Lead, Shepherd, and Align the church staff and ministry teams under your area of ministry, providing spiritual guidance, fostering collaboration, and ensuring alignment with the church’s vision.

  • Provide clear direction and vision to all team members.

  • Provide necessary tools for team members to succeed (resources, training, technology, people, time, and attention).

  • Ensure hyper clarity on team members' functions, roles, and expectations.

  • Ensure teams have quarterly goals to align with the larger ministry objectives.

  • Communicate clearly, effectively, and often.

  • Set up proper meeting rhythms to help team members succeed in their roles.

  • Ensure team alignment to Core Values.

  • Hold quarterly coaching check-ins with each direct report to provide feedback and help team members improve their competency.

  • Provide positive and negative feedback quickly (24 hours).

  • Criticize in private, praise in public.

  • Willingness and ability to hire, terminate, review, reward, and recognize team members.

#2: Family Discipleship

Oversee all Family Ministries (Children, Middle School, and High School), ensuring a unified discipleship strategy that equips the next generation and engages families in spiritual formation.

  • Develop and lead a cradle-to-college discipleship strategy that aligns with the church’s mission and values.

  • Provide direct oversight to Kids and Student Ministry leaders, ensuring consistency in doctrine, culture, and ministry practices.

  • Partner with age-specific ministry leaders to create seamless transitions between life stages and promote a holistic view of discipleship.

  • Offer leadership, training, and support to Family Ministry staff and key volunteers.

  • Ensure family ministries are biblically grounded, spiritually effective, and engaging to both students and their parents.

  • Integrate teaching opportunities within family ministry settings to model biblical teaching and spiritual leadership.

  • Plan and support events, retreats, and key spiritual milestones (e.g., child dedication, baptisms, promotion Sundays).

  • Champion parental involvement in the discipleship process by providing resources, training, and engagement opportunities.

  • Foster collaboration across family ministry teams through regular communication, shared goals, and mutual support.

  • Steward the Family Ministries budget, ensuring strategic allocation of resources across all areas.

#3: Parenting

Equip parents to be the primary spiritual leaders in their homes with confidence and clarity.

  • Create training opportunities for parents across all life stages (early childhood through young adulthood).

  • Host workshops, classes, and seminars on topics such as biblical parenting, discipline, and discipleship at home.

  • Develop digital and in-person resources to support parents in everyday conversations about faith.

  • Provide pastoral support and one-on-one coaching to parents as needed.

  • Train volunteers and ministry leaders to encourage and support parents through their respective ministries.

  • Partner with the Executive and Care Pastors to ensure alignment between church-wide teaching and parenting content.

#4: Marriage

Cultivate a culture of Christ-centered marriages through enrichment, care, and equipping.

  • Lead the church’s marriage ministry, including classes, retreats, mentoring, and small groups.

  • Offer pre-marital and marital pastoral counseling as needed.

  • Build and oversee a marriage mentoring program to equip couples to disciple other couples.

  • Collaborate with the Care Pastor to support couples facing crisis or relational strain.

  • Regularly offer teaching and resources to help couples grow in communication, unity, and biblical love.

  • Celebrate and strengthen marriages as a vital part of the church’s health and mission.

#5: Teaching & Discipleship Contribution

Support the teaching ministry of the church through strategic instruction and leadership development.

  • Teach in various settings across adult ministries: fellowship groups, seminars, retreats, or classes.

  • Preach in Sunday services as assigned by the Senior Pastor.

  • Develop content that supports spiritual formation and leadership development across adult ministries.

  • Identify and equip other capable teachers within the church.

Culture Alignment

Chemistry is key in any team. We hire, empower, evaluate, and partner with…

  1. Owners, not Managers. Leaders and self-starters who care about it all.

  2. Joyful Teammates (attitude is everything…) who promote unity and serve gratefully because they know it is NOT about them but HIM and US.

  3. Proactive and Transparent Partners (Not passive/aggressive or political but relationally honest).

  4. Respectful Leaders (how they treat those they lead) and Humble Followers (how they treat those who lead them).

  5. Hungry Learners and Mature Doers. They eagerly seek growth and wisdom, then apply it with consistency, integrity, and follow-through.

  6. Disciples and Disciplers. They have a personal daily walk with the Master, and they influence others to do the same…at home (Job ONE) and at Stonebridge (DNA and Core Priority).

  7. Givers, not Getters. With a “Can do” spirit of, “If I can, I will”.
